Death Café (Café Mortel) – In English

Event Date

11 November, 2026

Event Time

17:30 - 19:30

Event Location

Cancer Support Switzerland, 14 Chemin Auguste Vilbert Grand Saconnex, Geneva, 1218, Switzerland

At last. A place to talk about death, dying and grief, as well as life, living and love.

A Death Café is a gathering space for people who want to talk and listen about the one thing that connects us all: our mortality. No agenda, no expertise. Just a loosely structured space for conversation. There is nothing to prepare, nor is there a need to participate actively. You might want to share a noodling, ask a question, be listened to, or simply sit and be present.

This is not a grief support group, nor is it counselling. Advice-giving is off the menu, which is precisely what makes the conversation feel safe: you can bring up your musings without risk of being corrected. People often leave feeling witnessed, and lighter than when they arrived. More at peace with their mortality, and perhaps even more inspired to live and love fully.

The Death Café was created by Swiss sociologist Bernard Crettaz and brought to the English-speaking world by Jon Underwood. Emma from Kaleidoscope Development hosts them in English, in person, in Geneva, a couple of times a year.
